KINDLE [Kisses from Katie: A Story of Relentless Love and Redemption] Read å PDF, DOC, TXT or eBook Ë By Katie Davis,Beth Clark By Katie Davis,Beth Clark Ë 0 Download This book is profoundly disturbing. And it shakes me to the core. Kisses from Katie is the story of a high school senior who travels to Uganda and subsequently invests her life in the people she meets there. Katie Davis says her life is not extraordinary, but she goes on to describe extraordinary ways the Lord shows up in desperate circumstances.
Katie Davis came with no formal training, no formal backing and no form

KINDLE [Kisses from Katie: A Story of Relentless Love and Redemption] When I first "met" Kisses from Katie on a Barnes & Noble table, I wanted to read it. I wanted to hear the story and adventures of a real life girl who gave up everything to move to Uganda full time, because that's not something most people do. But I also didn't know what to think. Was this going to be yet another memoir/missionary

KINDLE [Kisses from Katie: A Story of Relentless Love and Redemption] Kisses from Katie by Katie J Davis is a delightful, heart warming book, similar to Mother of Malawi, that tells the story of an American teenager who became a mom to 14 girls in Uganda. If you were inspired by my biography of Annie Chikhwaza

Kisses from Katie by Katie J Davis is a delightful heart warming book similar to Mother of Malawi that tells the story of an American teenager who became a mom to 14 girls in Uganda If you were inspired by my biography of Annie Chikhwaza you re bound to like this New York Time best selling novel It s poignant funny heart rending and inspirational More than that it offers much needed direction that will vitally assist instruct and challenge care workers and missionaries wherever they may be reaching outI ve noticed something about people who make a difference in the world the co author Beth Clarke observes in the Foreword They hold the unshakable conviction that individuals are extremely important that every life matters They get excited over one smile They are willing to feed one stomach educate one mind and treat one wound They aren t determined to revolutionise the world all at once they re satisfied with small changes Over time though the small changes add up Sometimes they even transform cities and nations and yes the worldWords to live up to for all who care about others and Katie Davis is certainly one who cares deeply Like Annie Chikhwaza and others she has sacrificed much allowing life to take her in a direction that didn t initially fit the expectations of all those round her but which has transformed the lives of 13 young ladies and an entire community Katie didn t set out to be great but she became great through her sacrificial obedience and her book Kisses From Katie is filled to the brim with golden nuggets that will inspire readers to reach further and do in their own lives As Clarke says If you are ordinary but hungry to obey God may you find the strength to say yes and be launched into your very own amazing storyI loved reading Kisses From Katie on Kindle as you can so easily highlight paragraphs that resonate deep within you and they are plentiful You can also see how many other people have been impacted by that particular part of the book An example of just one of these insights follows Sometimes working in a Third World country makes me feel like I am emptying the ocean with an eyedropper Katie writes Today it often still feels that way I have learned to be okay with this feeling because I have learned that I will not change the world Jesus will do that I can however change the world for one person I can change the world for 14 little girls

Review ´ Kisses from Katie: A Story of Relentless Love and Redemption ¹ PDF, DOC, TXT or eBook Read å PDF, DOC, TXT or eBook Ë By Katie Davis,Beth Clark My life in the red dirt of Uganda Sometimes I want to spend hours talking with my best friends about boys and fashion and school and life I want to go to the gym; I want my hair to look nice; I want to be allowed to wear jeans I want to be a normal young woman living in America sometimes But I want other things All the time I want to be spiritually and emotionally filled eve. When I first met Kisses from Katie on a Barnes Noble table I wanted to read it I wanted to hear the story and adventures of a real life girl who gave up everything to move to Uganda full time because that s not something most people do But I also didn t know what to think Was this going to be yet another memoirmissionary story based around guilt I love you but how dare you have a bed how dare you choose what to eat God loves me because I m in Uganda and you are not I ve gotten that a lot especially as a Christian with a disability who no matter her desires would never be physically safe in a developing nation And frankly I did not want of itWell Kisses from Katie did not give me guilt Well I kinda take that back I don t think you can read a book like this and not feel blessed and fortunate which isn t the same as guilt I did find myself putting the book down to pray for forgiveness for my ungrateful moments But Katie wrote about things like scabies posho and how children can be sent to school for 20 with such grace and gravitas I only wanted to know I only wanted to thank God for how He loved these children and loved me too Not not less but because He has enough love to go around And maybe I missed it but I never felt He had enough love to go around before I always felt He had to love someone than me because I know I am so flawedThat s why I loved parts of Kisses from Katie so much There s a journal entry where she talks about how she cannot get her children to stop playing with trash because they see it as treasure They see it as conduits of imagination The point being God sees us in all our flaws filth and relative uselessness in the eyes of the world and still sees treasure I don t know how Sometimes I can t make myself believe that But it is true and He is so goodI also enjoyed Katie s descriptions of life in Uganda and the people she met Most Western Christians look at places like Uganda as that impoverished country over there where we have to help Katie brought it to life the poverty the filth the bugs and the hardships yes but also the joy the surprises and the refreshing simplicity of eating egg wraps and playing Tree Shop A heartrending description of a family with scabies is juxtaposed with the wonder of first baths ever The harsh spirit wrecking reality of a hospital that will not treat or feed patients without payment is juxtaposed with the joy of a multi race multi nationality family who will come and sit and pray with a little girl they don t know place their hands on her distended blood filled belly and watch her healI also love that Katie made it clear she s not in Uganda to help those poor kids When she says she s Mommy she means it And her family is not idealized or perfect but they are a family you love You root for Katie because of her depth of faith and her growth What she s doing might seem a bit crazy it still does to me very much But as a favorite author of mine would put it she s crazy brave and I love it She gets to show Jesus in ways most of us can only dream of and not because her kids are those poor kids Because those kids are her particular callingIf I had one wish it would be that Katie talked about the process of some things For instance how does a nineteen year old American girl get to a place where she knows beyond a doubt God is leading her to adopt fourteen Ugandan kids And yes she says she prayed and wrestled which is great butwhat did it look like in the day to day She mentions her kids brought trauma and behaviors in and she had to learn to handle that well what did that look like Because yeah sometimes her family does look just a little bit Von Trapp ish Even at the beginning it feels like at sixteen she suddenly decided I m going to go overseas and do something big for God and her life in the US just kind of faded away after awhileThere is another book so I ll read that to see if I get details of who Katie is why this journey who her kids are and so on But in the meantime I d say definitely read this first and expect to be inspired and uplifted in the best way

Review ´ Kisses from Katie: A Story of Relentless Love and Redemption ¹ PDF, DOC, TXT or eBook Read å PDF, DOC, TXT or eBook Ë By Katie Davis,Beth Clark Ry day I want to be loved and cuddled by a hundred children and never go a day without laughing I want to wake up to a rooster’s crow and open my eyes to see lush green trees that seem to pulse with life against a piercing blue sky and the rusty red soil of Uganda I want to be challenged endlessly I want to be taught by those I teach and I want to share God’s love with p. I want to give my life away for Christ Kisses from KatieKatie was seventeen when she visited Uganda for the first time on a short term mission trip Now six years later she lives in Uganda and is the mother of thirteen adopted children as well as the founder of a ministry that through sponsorship cares for almost six hundred children Amazima Ministries provides schooling school uniform and supplies food medicine and discipleship for orphaned and vulnerable children The ministry also reaches out to their families and communities And behind it all there is a young woman who has a passionate love for God and the people He s put in her world I believe there is only one truly courageous thing we can do with our lives to love unconditionally Absolutely with all of ourselves so much that it hurts and then Kisses from KatieThere is a sense in which Kisses from Katie reads like an autobiographical sketch by Amy Carmichael or Gladys Aylward Most young women don t do the things that she considers normal Things like moving to the other side of the world and adopting thirteen little girls who need a mother Things like sponsoring a half thousand of the two and a half million orphans who live in Uganda Things like opening heart and home to broken and hurting people of all ages Every day we have a choice We can stay nestled in our safe comfortable places or we can take a risk do something to help someone else make a person smile change someone s world Kisses from KatieKatie writes in a very heartwarming vulnerable style She lets her readers into her life She lets them see her world through her eyes of compassion She s honest about her decisions and the impact they had on her family and not all readers are going to understand or support her decisions She s also honest about some of the difficult and painful things that happen in a poor country and there are a few eww gross moments in her storyThese are in my opinion balanced by the beauty of her writing and the lovely presentation of her story I really liked the journal entries and the way they were printed in the page as if they d been written by hand I also liked the pictures of her family and friends that are included that bring her words to life in colour and gloryThrough the highs and the lows of her story however Katie writes with passion for God It s not a passion that says that everyone should live her sort of life It s the sort of passion that inspires my faith in God and my love for Him and the people He s put in my world God has a way of using inadeuate people and sometimes He calls us to reach a little higher or to stretch a little further even when we feel we can t do any We simply trust Him And then He gives us everything we need to do the that He is asking of us Kisses from Katie
